Who is Shanna??

 Shan An Shuang
Shan - the name given to all children at Shantou SWI
An -safe and happy
Shuang - bright and optimistic

She just turned nine years old, and is living at the Shantou Social Welfare Institute, Guangdong Province, China. She is a happy, healthy little girl who needs a family. She is a good student, loves to giggle, sing, and play with friends. She is hard working, helpful, caring and brave. All of this we have learned from her reports and the nannies that care for her.

June 2010

Eric and I decided that we have room in our hearts and our home for one more child. Shanna has captured our hearts and we are going to be her family. China has approved us.

It will be two years ago on May 13, 2010 that Megan Ling joined our family. We cannot imagine our life without her. People frequently say to us “she is lucky to have you”. That is no doubt true. To grow up as a parentless child is a fate no person should ever have to know.  To have an adult (or two) come into your life and choose you, give you hope, love you, cherish you; that is a wonderful gift. But she is not the luckiest. We are. We have been blessed beyond belief with the joy of loving her. She is such an amazing child each and every day we are so thankful to have the chance to be part of her life.

Dear Shanna, we are coming. Stay well, be happy, and dream of your new family. We love you. Mommy & Daddy

Here are our most recent photos from June 2010.

She had just been told she was CHOSEN for a family. She looks happy about it!

What a smiler!
In this picture, Shanna is receiving a package from us. She is wearing a dress that I had sent her in a previous package. She looks so cute.
Now she is wearing the new shirt and sunglasses that we sent and she is looking at a photo album/story book about us that I made for her. The page it's opened to has Matthew holding a big fish he caught! The stories are translated in to Chinese for her.

These are older photos.

Shanna (on right) and her foster sister. I think she is already adopted and living in Denmark.
Making the Peace Sign is a common pose in China
The orphanage must have taken her for professional photos

Is she calling her Mama?
Shanna went on a field trip with her school, Believe in Me, a Montessori school run by the Shantou orphanage and supported by Love Without Boundaries.
